Tropic (1) was the sister ship of Asiatic. Initially used on the Liverpool - Calcutta (India) route - via Suez, then (in 1872) switched to Liverpool - Valpariso (Chile) route. This vessel and Asiatic were sold in 1873 to regain capital after Atlantic ran aground and sank.  A spanish company purchased Tropic (1) and renamed her Federico. In 1894 she was scrapped in Lancashire.
