RMS Olympic Archive: History and images covering the period the vessel's lifespan from launch to scrapping. The Olympic was first of a class of large and luxurious ocean liners which numbered three vessels. She was in service from 1911 to 1935 and scrapped after a successful and eventful career. RMS Titanic - lost on maiden voyage (with great loss of life) after collision with an iceberg on 14th - 15th, April 1912 was the second Olympic Class liner. The third was HMHS Britannic; she served as a hospital ship during the Great war and sank on November 21st, 1916 after striking a mine. After the loss of her sister ships, Olympic remained the largest existing British-built vessel until the arrival of RMS Queen Mary. |
