On 10th January, 1940 Britannic III made her second wartime arrival
at New York; already armed with a six-inch and a three-inch gun at the time
of her last trip in November, she had since been painted grey and had pillboxes
installed on each wing of the bridge. On board were eight race horses, five
from the stable of the Aga Kahn - on their way to purchasers in the United
States.

On 4th December, 1960, Britannic III arrived at Liverpool at the end
of her 275th and last voyage - the last passenger voyage of a White Star
liner.
She made the final departure of a White Star vessel from Liverpool on 16th
December 1960; leaving under her own power for breaking up at Inverkeithing
and arriving there on 19th December at Thomas W. Ward Shipbreakers for
demolition. |
