HMHS (His Majesty's Hospital Ship) Britannic was lost on November 21st, 1916 after striking a mine. She was the third (and last) of a class of large and luxurious ocean liners constructed for the White Star Line. The first being RMS Olympic - in service from 1911 to 1935 and scrapped after a successful and eventful career. RMS Titanic, the second Olympic Class liner, sank (with great loss of life) on 14th - 15th, April 1912 during her maiden voyage after collision with an iceberg. |
