On 31st December 1914: Red Star's Belgenland (Yard Number 391) was launched at Harland & Wolff, Belfast. Due to World War I, she remained unfinished at Belfast until 1917, when she was transferred to White Star by IMM, renamed Belgic IV and completed as a cargo carrier - with a dazzle paint scheme.

She was then placed on the Liverpool - New York run by the Shipping Controller. Belgic was never painted in White Star livery; she reverted to Red Star ownership after the war - being completed as the passenger ship she was intended to be under her original name Belgenland.

She was scrapped in 1936. Belgic was the only name used for four different White Star ships.
